"Today's inflation report is a reminder that Americans' budgets are being stretched by price increases and families are starting to feel the impacts of Putin's price hike. A large contributor to inflation this month was an increase in gas and energy prices as markets reacted to Putin's aggressive actions," Biden said in a statement.
He added, "As I have said from the start, there will be costs at home as we impose crippling sanctions in response to Putin's unprovoked war, but Americans can know this: The costs we are imposing on Putin and his cronies are far more devastating than the costs we are facing."
"Make no mistake: The current spike in gas prices is largely the fault of Vladimir Putin. It has nothing to do with the American Rescue Plan," Biden said.
"The prices there are growing, but not through our fault. This is the result of their own miscalculations. They should not blame us for this," Putin said.
"The same applies to the surge in prices for oil and petroleum products in the United States. They are trying to shift blame for the results of their own mistakes on us."
According to him, "because the supply of Russian oil to the American market does not exceed 3%."
"This is a negligible volume, and their prices are rising. We have absolutely nothing to do with it, and even here the ban on Russian oil imports has absolutely nothing to do with it. They just hide behind these decisions in order to once again deceive their own population," Putin said.

President Joe Biden's job approval ratings keep falling in his second year in the White House, with just 40 percent of Americans approving of the job he is doing, a new NBC News survey finds. That is the lowest rating Biden has seen in his presidency. A total of 71 percent of respondents to the poll said they believe the country is "off on the wrong track."
